15. 11.

Since the announcement was released that Microgaming is restricting US players, there have been conflicting reports released as to whether restrictions are only for new signups or if they are completely backing out of the US market.

In certain e-mails received by affiliates and casino managers, it was emphasized that the operators had requested that Microgaming halt new US registrations, and this would take place as of November 10th. It was also emphasized that existing players would not be affected if they were not resident in the 13 “banned states” which expressly prohibit online gambling.

Two other groups also said that in addition to the new registrations ban on November 10, they would also be closing their doors to all US players as of December 1, 2008.

As for Microgaming, the company has failed to comment although sources have mentioned that they will be making an official statement as of Monday – the cutoff for new registrants. The public is hoping that this new statement will provide some clarity and help relieve the situation.

To add to the rumors, there has been talk that Microgaming is going public or will be pulling out of the US market completely. It seems that the idea of Microgaming pulling out of the US market may make more sense.

The current situation is definitely not good for business since players would be expecting the company to close down at any moment and would risk losing their bankroll. The best thing for Microgaming to do if they should follow through with the closure would be to keep the lines of communication open with their customers.

I’ll keep you posted with any new developments with Microgaming throughout the following week.
